Dum Dum Girls is a little summary of all good girl groups, halfway between the Ronettes and the Shangri-Las, and a sprinkling of pop punk of the Vivian Girls. Not to mention they are pretty bonasses, and more.

The blackness of the Velvet Underground, the Doors' psychedelia, this is how one could summarize the music of the Black Angels , but it is so flattering, the comparison would still be too vulgar. La Route du Rock marks the second concert of Texas Breton, after lighting the TransMusicales in 2008. It was, and was more than eager to do it again.

When you do not know Caribou, one might say: "Frankly, just because this guy was quite crossed to choose the stage name Caribou, I'll go see what it looks like" . And then when we know the music from Caribou, we know very well that whatever happens to take place 2:50 to see him live.

The five boys from Oxford are they still really make? No. So we'll just say that after having released one of the great records of 2010, Foals may well provide one of the great concerts of the Route du Rock, at the same time. Avoid the front row if you're not the adventurous type, because it will shake.

Sad songs for dirty lovers is not only the name of one of the albums The National , but also a way that is very poetic and quite appropriate describe the music of America.

If they have not been very productive since their last album in 2006, the Rapture nevertheless have forgotten how to make us dance. Whoo! Alright-Yeah ... Uh Huh , First Gear and Get Myself Into It in particular have been and remain incomparable recipes for wiggle frantically. Their dance punk to new wave accents sometimes, sometimes electro, looks just perfect to end this twentieth edition of the festival Saint-Malo.

How Clean Do They Have To Be?

Astropol
2010 LIVE REPORT
30 & 31JUILLET2010
BREST

Back on the French electronics major event of the summer festival Astropolis. Three days of grueling but rich discoveries of a style which we were not necessarily fond ago, and has largely managed to fill a weekend.

Friday, July 30

You learn by coming to the hull to 23h as the evening is sold out. It's official: the festival has indeed invaded Brest, its port, rain and gloom. To the chagrin of young Catholics, we imagine. The current music room of the city has converted during the second night in Astropolis fix electronic music lovers. The audience is young, pretty and fluorescent clothing. Tonight especially because SebastiAn Yuksek and gentlemen, no longer really present, are on display, accompanied by We Are Enfant Terrible and the English duo somewhat UFO in the evening, Fuck Buttons.

Astropolis The programmers were visibly amused with times crossing groups. Shim Fuck Buttons between SebastiAn Yuksek and is still dared. Or risky. And difficult to understand, but either. Having already seen the two live in English, we know that the earplugs are not desirable, but essential otherwise risk losing something like 60% of his hearing. It would be a shame. In fact the band played very, very strong and often strident sound database, giving the end something like a fairly innovative electro noise. But that does not make their music less hypnotic, like their live performances, which also carry literally with a capital A. The contrast Yuksek / Fuck Buttons please do not at all obvious, since the room is far less full for the English group than for the French dj thirty minutes earlier. This was predictable, and it is no less pleasant, corndogs because the music of Fuck Buttons, albeit violent, would still have been totally inappropriate, and not really allowed either - it should be 45 degrees and we have already sweated enough about Yuksek.

SebastiAn, or the man who smoked three packs of smokes per set, is somewhat past the trap. At the same time, we took care to maintain our own lung, while watching the security guards trying to nab daring guys who tried to cheat to enter the hull without paying through the trees directly overlooking the backyard of the room. Astropolis option tree climbing, risky.

No Astroclub, the fault of buddies who have not bought their tickets to the Suite. Damage. But during the evenings Astropolis reserve many surprises and are far from over so early (4h), and happily.

Saturday, July 31

The arrival Keroual Manor is in the middle of the set of Busy P aka Pedro Winter, or Mr. Ed Banger, a time considered the godfather French electro after somehow disclosed Daft Punk. Good reputation sets the bar very high. But no sooner arrived at Keroual, so it is not stopped by the set of Paris, over by the decor of the place, particularly exciting and successful (with mirror ball cleverly organized into galaxies, lights everywhere, and all the trees makes the sumptuous decor). It is true that the visual aspect of a show is inseparable from electronic music, and Astropolis is there to remind us.

2am, it's time to head for the scene where the Court Danton Eeprom- is one of the revelations of TransMusicales 2009, and one of the best live-is about to pass behind the machines. The barrier is still accessible, and the public, so relatively few locally known what it is there: a set intense, loaded with raunchy rhythms accents sensual captivate the senses. A half hour parade almost magnetic nobody unscathed, the perfect recipe before following the festivities. Damn, we missed Tiga. Too bad, what follows is simply inevitable, and leave the front row would be suicidal anyway.

Shortly before 3:30, the mood changes dramatically and the public side is suddenly an influx of a predominantly sudden that disarms people already there. No doubt it is Paul Kalkbrenner who is about to enter the scene. And German does not fail its reputation by delivering a set that many consider it as the best festival altogether. In one detail, but not least a remix of a dubious title Stromae, former Belgian rapper questionable converted into a sort of mixture between hip hop and electronica. At the time, the scene is simply incredible and we are persuaded that our ears we play tricks, fatigue in support. Unfortunately not. (Paulo is a bit borderline, evidenced by his recent remix Rammstein. Certainly. Stromae But, anyway ...) Well, it still manages to be forgiven by linking with a version of majestic Aaron, and later Sky And Sand a seemingly endless , to the delight of all, at the same time marking the climax of the set. Heard from a friend: "alala the Sky And Sand it has lasted at least half of the concert!" Well, maybe not that long, anyway. To our surprise, there has been no start of football shirts - info or intox: we were told it was a specialty ... Kalkbrenner

Pardon to Mathew Jonson , but after the excitement Paul Kalkbrenner, pause and re-hydration rest exhausted limbs needed. A ride, a little less, after reflection. Note for the future: avoiding thrill rides in an hour too late at night, a third night of the festival at that. Hello retch.

5:20 am, a dense crowd had gathered outside the scene of the Astrofloor where Brodinski started mixing. The lighting effects that accompany the dj are impressive, hypnotic, captivating, many adjectives that we unfortunately can not attribute to set Brodinski in music, disappointing overall, easy, and without coherence. Well, we'll be good sports and say it is surely that we do not able to enjoy this time at its fair value, a little disarmed by the fatigue that was beginning to be felt more and more. The rest of the public (ravers, hippies, young, old, open-type trips, types dressed in short, everything except the Catholic youth) has seemed to appreciate.

7am, the fatigue of three days of festival night forcing us to surrender. Few people are still there and the majority were split between the last irreducible unwilling to resolve to turn back before the last dj mix is finished, and a good dose of corpses at the same the floor, cradled by the light rain that Brest begins to fall slowly but surely (for the umpteenth time of the weekend). But time has not played in disfavor of this edition of Astropolis ultimately more hippie ravers that, as expected.
