"Have You Seen My LOOK BEAUTIFUL?" GEMINI

BEAUREGARD
2010 LIVE REPORT
2JUILLET2010
CAEN

Arrival to earth 16h Caen, under a blazing sun that suggests some unwanted sunburn. Concerts 21h prior to having had little interest in challenging our ears, if you want to spend much on Feloche, Tremor and other 64 Dollar Question.

xx is not a group made for festivals. Cold pop sound of their compositions and the atmosphere raven black musicians and the concert in general, under a sun starting to roll, it's too ironic to operate. But the attitude of group members, which can easily be perceived as arrogant (no promo, no photographers, no recall) does not favor either the Londoners. Musically, live was again very similar to the album, something that does not leave, inevitably, no room for improvisation or even an ounce of spontaneity. If the quality of their music is undeniable interest to see The xx scene is much more.

guitars and language carter the Stooges are great shape, or rather what remains of the original formation (drummer Scott Asheton and Iggy Pop, joined in recent years by two guitarists and a trumpeter). The Stooges live 2010, is almost exclusively Raw Power (Album , for those who would land) with a few exceptions (do not play I Want to Be Your Dog would, in fact, not possible). So when, in return, you are entitled to Death Trip, Fun House , No Sense Of Crime , and the b-side Gimme Some Skin , but mostly, MOSTLY No Fun , it is necessarily pleasure. A reminder of five songs, it's very rare, with Iggy in top form, not really decided to leave the stage to make way for Local Natives on the scene 2. Methinks that if he had not had time restrictions, the Iguana would have stayed on stage until the middle of the night - the same situation had occurred last year with Peter Doherty.

Hardly time to recover from so much raw emotion that Local Natives concatenate, and suddenly the prospect of watching the concert from a distance, quietly lying on the grass, seems more and attractive (reminder: there are still sets of Phoenix and Yuksek, not the least). The group is a pleasant discovery, with some accents reminiscent of Grizzly Bear, something far from unpleasant. Two end pieces, a mob suddenly goes to the big stage ... yes, not very clever from the singer to want to heat the public, saying in a cheerful voice "are you happy to see Phoenix tonight, guys?" . Result, larger world to the end of the concert band. Strategic error, shall we say.

It is nearly an hour in the morning and the group that everyone looks poised to take the stage. This is obviously Phoenix , and I do not know if it's a case of chauvinism, but even before they appear, we feel the public a renewed love for the group, visibly impatient to see the effectiveness of live music Versailles . And it does not take long to come since the first title is none other than Lisztomania , song for well over a year, and quality might as well. The play of light on stage bring more to the show, and I must admit admire the scene space photographer, before the gates, is a privilege that we delight as much as possible for three short songs. A little less when Thomas Mars, singer of Phoenix decides on the end of Long Distance Call to go for a stroll in the public and lack of land above you frantically jumping from the stage, but we forgive him for that unfortunate incident. (Although, after seeing him running away interview that you were supposed to do with him, it's enough to become somewhat paranoid.) Lasso follow the irresistible Consolation Prizes, and a sequence pieces of Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix. It was with surprise that we see that the long instrumental part of Love Like A Sunset passes on balance very well live, then we would have feared a slowdown in the pace of the set. A small technical problem occurs, the disappearance of sound, but that does not stop the group to continue as if nothing had happened until everything returns to normal. In fact, the only downside was that there were few songs It's Never Been Like That ( Rally was the third and the last). You can not please everybody, it's true. That said, with a finale as 1901, and also amazed audiences on the edge of delirium general, we can all afford.

They say that artists are superstitious. If it was not the case Yuksek before the July 2 at Beauregard, things have probably changed. Explanation. At 21h, during his press conference (which, frankly, was not really because of Radio Normandy, Caen and other Campus TV Normandy were somewhat monopolized the dj, believing in individual interview - but nevermind ), one of the reporters asked if his Yuksek machines have already been planted in the open set. Response of the person: no no, everything has gone well, no problem at that level. At 2am, Yuksek comes in, starts spinning, then some twenty minutes later, the middle Tonight of that delights the festival also ... the big silence. Not a sound, nobody in the audience understands what is happening, and the poor Yuksek seems so very alone in the middle of its machines. He finally took the microphone and explain a bug just appeared, and it is unclear whether the concert will be again. Fortunately, though. Small aside: it is in these circumstances we see if we are dealing with a good or a public hearing assholes. In this case, Beauregard was the first category, as people began to chant "YUK YUK-SEK-SEK" incongruous for the interruption, rather encouraging sign, not to hoot like a herd of cattle, what we've seen elsewhere.

The set ends up back with a vengeance, and will almost Tonight was played twice to the delight of the public to believe the playful dances and smiles displayed. As in the set, the last families left the site of Beauregard, time becomes relatively late and the music a little too electronic for a "broad public" shall we say. The set of the French DJ is coming to an end, and it leaves the scene hoping a good night to the public with a robotic voice, and charisma to its peak. It is a little over three hours, and if the festival has extended its niche yet this year, we would have stayed for a little more live.
