There are two constants that, each year, repeated endlessly with the festival Inrocks. The original partner still not to say crazy which joins the festival every year (this fall Black XS Paco Rabanne aka, last year an agency for the protection of ecological environment, SNCF in 2009, etc..), and the assurance of having a good lineup, which is located in Paris, Toulouse, Lille and Nantes. From our side, and for the third consecutive time, it was moved from Nantes in time for a weekend.
Saturday, November 6
In particularly rainy Saturday in Nantes, weather conditions have deterred some of us go early in Olympic failing to arrive mode "hello I jumped in a pool before you come." A situation quite unthinkable because you never know, you could pass Carl Barat in the bend of a corridor. To preserve a bit of physical and social decency, we therefore missed concerts Free Energy and Blood Surfer. We can not say if you really missed great musical moments, since we heard two bells on the first group: on one side, the Free Energy were great, the other, it was more like a concert by American rock band at the homecoming than anything else. We therefore remain in limbo.
Let's be honest, we did not know what to expect vis-à-vis the concert Carl Barat since his first solo album recently released the antithesis of everything he could do before, and, let's not mince words, pretty average. It may even speak of a sense of fear itself. But, it is unclear what magic formula, it turns out that the friend Carlos has a kind of aura as soon as his feet stepped onto a stage. Charisma, grace, the words are accessories but the presence is there. Thus, even when not n'empoigne his guitar to play a piece of one of his past training, public attention is not falling either. Well, as Not surprisingly, it is of course the songs of The Libertines have had the most success (The Man Who Would Be King , Death On The Stairs , Up the Bracket, and the magnificent Do not Look Back Into The Sun final) and those of Dirty Pretty Things. While it is nice to see that Carl Barat has taken the bull by the horns after his addiction problems, resulting in this live, what was on everyone's lips, it was the desire to see four Libertines to reform, not just for financial reasons as was the case this summer.
break off nostalgia. The last concert of the evening was provided by Drums. We had heard that the previous dates of the tour Inrocks, the rooms were emptied before the delivery of U.S.. After attending the course, we understood why. A set too repetitive, if not downright redundant, add to that the problems of sound (a voice almost inaudible) and you get the instructions to scare an audience. The Drums can yet boast of causing an album, it is unfortunate and disappointing that so little interest in their live. We'll put that on the back of their young career.

Rose The Hanger not but frankly, if it was a joke, she was in bad taste. Re-situate the context. A little guilty of being arrived at the hall for the set of Carl Barat yesterday, and thus have missed the first two groups Free Energy and Blood Surfer, we said that on Sunday, fatigue at the support, we would attend four concerts in the chairs (blessed by the gods) from Olympic. The fault may be ours, after all, because if there had been a little more conscientious it would previously heard two to three songs from The Rose Pathers history to see what it looked like. It would not have been too distressed to come across a Heart Pirate # 2 which was a dubious boyfriend DJ David Guetta. The Inrocks have also compared the group in Coeur de Pirate it seems, but considering they have erected their album in twenty-fifth out of the best achievements in 2009, is apparently supposed to be a flattering comparison. This is obviously not the case on our side. Fortunately, this was the only unpleasant surprise of the festival.
A half hour later take up the four California of Warpaint. Again, complete discovery, since except for a resumption of Ashes To Ashes David Bowie , the universe of U.S. we were previously unknown. Say what you want, but some unexpected psychedelic rock, it's always fun. The small downside is that the concert was too linear, with no real climax, and it is therefore not surprising that he appeared quite similar to many people in the audience.
Third concert of the evening, and probably the most anticipated considering the applause all concerts combined, are Local Natives. The real surprise about the performance of California is the emphasis on live percussion, much more present than on the album, which is not reminiscent of the Cold War Kids, White Rabbits. Almost all the songs on the album spends, whose best Eyes Wide , World News, Airplanes , Who Knows Who Cares not to mention their cover of Warning Sign Talking Heads. The finale is majestic with Sun elongated Hands a break and an almost a capella chorus. The public burning hands in applause to beg a reminder, but to no avail: the timing is rigged and The Coral is the next group. Anyway, this concert of Local Natives remain as one of the only truly passionate and exciting of the weekend.
The prospect of going to see The Coral after this wonderful concert of Local Natives we cooled a little, and very courageous, we spend together at the bar. At the end of the evening, Local Natives, interviewed earlier in the afternoon join us in search of an after. We spend a quarter of an hour arguing about the possible places where to spend some time at Nantes on Sunday night at midnight, but for lack of conclusive solution and a course in college the next day at 10:30 Rennes, we shake hands and say to the next.
